Surgical Instruments Vocational High School Opens...

In Samsun, a protocol was signed between the Provincial Directorate of National Education and Samsun Medical Industry Clustering Association (MEDİKÜM) for the opening of Surgical Instruments Vocational High School.

Samsun Governor İbrahim Şahin, in his speech at the signing ceremony held in the governor's meeting hall, said that the Surgical Instruments Vocational High School will be raised to the 2017-2018 academic year.

Stating that they want to work on medical instruments that will contribute to the development of the medical sector in Turkey, Şahin said, "Energy comes first in the current account deficit and the health sector comes second. We can make big gains with a small step towards closing the current account deficit."

Stating that the medical equipment sector should be expanded as much as possible and the number of employees should be increased, Şahin explained that this is the aim of the vocational high school to be opened.

Stating that they have long-term studies on the medical sector, Şahin said:

"We bought the old station building. We are planning to make the building, which we have surrounded, the Museum of Surgical Instruments. We will also symbolically produce in a small area there. What is produced can also be in the form of souvenirs. When we visited our Minister of National Education, we said that the work done in Samsun is not only limited to Turkey, it can also be exported. I suggested to our Minister to open a vocational high school for medical instruments or surgical instruments. Our Minister said, 'Find a place, don't wait for the end of the year. You determine the curriculum," he said. We will admit students to the high school in the 2017-2018 academic year. While the children complete their education in a 4-year period, they will also participate in production alongside our industrialists. We will open bank accounts for them. Money will be deposited into their accounts for the time they work. After the children finish school, maybe they will establish a workplace for themselves with this."

MEDİKÜM President Ahmet Aydemir pointed out that 2.5 billion dollars of imports were realized in medical devices and said, "There are also products imported under different items. Therefore, unofficially, this figure rises to 6-7 billion dollars."

Following the speeches, Governor Şahin, Provincial Director of National Education Coşkun Esen and MEDİKÜM President Aydemir signed the protocol.
